I do - however I don't worry about having one monitor; I have my
desktop set up as a complete system, when I dock in my laptop I've got
it set up so I can see the laptop screen easilly. Then I run a
program called Synergy -

http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

It connects the two systems together through the network and allows
you to use the same mouse and keyboard across the two systems.

There are other tools available for this as well - Win2VNC (or X2VNC
if you're a Linux guy) and Stardock's Multiplicity
http://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/ ... I chose the
"virtual switch" option after running into tons of problems with my
laptop's ability to handle a KVM.
