Oh - I wasn't suggesting a replacement if you already had an HTPC. It's just not as capable and lacks all PVR functions. But if you were on the fence, already have a PVR or just download a lot one of these players is a nice "starter" unit. If you don't demand too much of it may do everything you need. And if, later, you want to upgrade to a full HTPC the Avel Player makes a great gift to your mom so you can send her DVDs full of movies and TV shows. ;^) Or it'll make for a nice "second room" player. My next big purchase will be a NAS server. One of my problems with the current crop of SFF HTPC is the lack of built-in RAID. I've got a great little Shuttle system (which is currently a game machine for my son) but it's only for room for one drive. A terabyte NAS server will give you 750 Gig of redundant storage for about a $1,000. If you can find 300Gig discs for $100 each then you can get 900Gig of redundant storage for the same price. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nice tax return. ;^) Jim Davis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Find out how CFTicket can increase your company's customer support efficiency by 100% http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=49 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:179959 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
