If you believe in God or prayer then good for you. But don't put "in God we Trust" on my money, or "One Nation Under God" in the national pledge of allegiance. Eisenhower added those two words (Under God) as an affront to communism. As he did so he said "In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and future". I'm sorry but even though there is a strong religious heritage within our country, our country is based on religious freedom. Not a god or set of views deemed appropriate by a government. The ability to choose to worship or not worship whoever or whatever you deem appropriate, why must we deem ourselves "under God" or state "in God we trust" as national slogans. Where is the freedom of religion there? Far right Christian values are being crammed down our throats. We are a nation based on religious freedom, not religious doctrine. I love the hypocrisy of this administration. It is ok to lie to justify a war. Out CIA operatives for vengeful reasons. Etc... All while expounding higher moral values. You think anything even slightly associated with religion needs to be destroyed. You may think anyone that needs to follow a guide or set of rules is stupid but that's just naive. If you weren't taught how to act or how to behave or how to treat others we'd be no different then monkeys or dogs. And it's not Christian morality, any kind of morality that keeps us civilized. I'm not Christian. In AA they used to look to god for help but now they look to anyone stronger than them to give them guidance. If you remove that guidance what do you have? Not everyone needs the guidance or the fear of god to keep them on the straight and narrow but it does help a lot of people. Why do you have to remove it?
