Correct, There have Christians, and a few Deists, and some that claim no 
affiliation.

One things the Constitution does say that leaned to racist side was the way 
the census was counted.

It was called the three-fifths compromise. The south wanted their slaves 
counted when it came to proportional representation and not counted when it 
came to taxes. The North wanted the slaves counted for both, some just for 
taxes.

What was settled on was that the total would come from the whole of all the 
free persons and 3/5 of the others.

That is really the only thing. If I am not mistaken it has not been 
changed. Although there have been amendments that abolished slavery and 
other discriminations based on race,sex, color, religion, etc..
