but I suspect that the Iraqis see the presence of American troops as the problem. To paraphrase an old business saying, you can't make that up on volume. Increases in troop strength play to the opposition's argument that this is all a matter of US oppression. I don't think any amount of smarts will finesse this problem. Withdraw and let the United Nations do its job. Not that THIS administration will do anything of the kind. But... we have had elections. Supposedl they were open and fair elections. Let the Iraqi government create peace in Iraq. The present situation is like slapping a child for crying and threatening to continue slapping him untill he stops. There is a long shot that it just might work, but forget ever getting any respect from him in future.
