this is far-left? slate? Are you serious? While I agree with your conclusions (independent is the way to go) I think the logic is reasonably well spelled out here. It is an opinion that doesn't claim to be anything else. It has to be an opinion piece, because you are just not going to find a smoking gun memo on an issue like this. PS - if you want to see far-left (or far-right) I subscribe to a few lists on each side, and will share. What you have here imho is a lot of people in the center trying to put the best light on past foolish actions.
