What Sam and Kevin are pushing is what philosophers call a "lie of
omission" or purposely distorting and omitting facts to prove a case.
Ironically the effort is exactly what the President did to convince
Congress and Americans to get involved in an unnecessary war.

Here are the facts:

1.) The Senate Intelligence Committee was provided a finished product
of intelligence, not "the same" intelligence. And that product was
finished by the Administration.

2.) Congress does not have access to the Presidential Daily Brief, nor
the Sr Exec Intelligence Report, nor the individual analyst reports,
nor dept level assessments.

3.) Congress can ask questions, but that's hard to do when you don't
have access to the intelligence to know what to ask.

As an analogy, let's look at ENRON. They published corporate balance
sheets that included all the business of fraud that we now know about.
Many folks, including Anderson Accounting, didn't catch it though.
Why?

Were Anderson and ENRON execs looking at the "the same" balance
sheets? Yes. Then why was the fraud not caught? Because the
accountants were purposely deceived and manipulated into "glossing
over" that parts that included the fraud by senior execs such as Andy
Fastow the CFO.

So the intelligence about Iraq was the same as the intelligence about
ENRON. Everyone had access to the same data and everyone, including
the Europeans, thought ENRON was a viable company making honest
profits. But the Executives were the only ones that knew the truth
until it started to unravel.

The same is happening with Iraq. Let's call it ENRON 2. Or the
Texas-Deception 2. Whichever.
