I used to work with a kid who was an alcoholic by night, was addicted to Oxy and Vicodin (among other things) by day, smoked like a chimney and ate meat lovers pizza's, steak and cheese subs, etc, like a pig. He got himself into some real trouble and had to "go away" for a few weeks. When he came back (owner actually kept him on, it was his best friend's son), he was a strict vegan, stopped smoking, drinking, and popping pills. THAT was fun to watch.
In the end, it never really worked out for him. Personally, I think he tried to quit too much too quick. I found out about 6 months ago that he had died of an OD (we think heroin, but I really don't know, all hush-hush).
