I understand this, but was guilty of it myself simply because the teacher is
usually teaching to the lowest common denominator (i.e. dumb-asses).  So for
those who are reasonably computer savvy (those of us on this list) computer
courses tended to be slow moving at times.  Had I not been able to download
Quake or Doom, I would have on occasion been forced to kill the entire
class.
