I'm not meaning to sound cruel or anything, but I don't understand what 
your objection is.

He gets on a plane, and says he has a bomb.  They convince him to get 
off the plane, but then he won't give up the bag he says the bomb is in. 
  He then reaches into the bag while moving towards the marshals 
(thanks, Bill, for correcting my spelling :-P).

Now, it's unfortunate that he died.  It's good he didn't really have a 
bomb, though that makes his death even more tragic.  However, I don't 
know what else the officials on the scene should have done.
