Indeed, tragic.  I do feel for the guy and his wife, who had to watch
all this happen.  Terrible terrible stuff for her.

However, Darwin's concept of "Survival of the Fittest" does apply
here, however cruel it may be.  Today's technology helps people with
conditions such as his (and countless other medical conditions) in an
attempt to defeat Darwin and extend life.  However, sometimes Darwin
still wins.
