I had my first Biodiesel backlash this week. The temperature dropped into the teens the past couple of days and my truck steady lost speed. Driving home on Wednesday night, the temp started at 38F and dropped to 23F. As the temp dropped, so did my top speed, from 65mph to about 20mph. I thought that the fuel had started to gel so I mixed in 50% diesel #2. That didn't solve the problem. Next morning it was the same story.
So, I had heard that Biodiesel will clean out your tank and fuel lines pretty good as it's got a solvent like property. So I decided to change out my fuel filter. Viola! That did the trick. I got curious and decided to open up the filter and see what kind of cleaning it had done: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/mmoyer/IMG_3571.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/mmoyer/IMG_3570.jpg I'm curious as too how much more will be cleaned out as these filters are $45 a pop and a bitch to change out. -- Marlon A spaceman came travelling on his ship from afar, 'twas light years of time since his mission did start, And over a village he halted his craft, And it hung in the sky like a star, just like a star... --Chris De Burgh, A Spaceman Came Travelling ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=17 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:186929 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
