Well... in Boston it'd three to five times more than it would be in Madison. ;^) > That house is the the 3rd most expensive house currently on the market in > Dickson City. I'd be very cautious. Dickson city itself is a small, older town. There are a lot of these large older homes there but they tend to sell when the owners either die or move (the owners of this house are retiring to warmer climes - they've owned the house for 35 years). There's not a lot of turnover in general in that specific area. There do seem to be more families moving in, but right now there aren't that many kids about (there's a single three-town consolidated school district). > That's probably also one of the reasons you're not being taken seriously. > I > know if I contacted a realtor about one of the high-end houses here > (million-plus), they'd just laugh and point me at something more > reasonable. Yeah - that's what I figured. > Also, how familiar with the area are you? I'll be taking a class at that office in early January and spend a week there so I hope to see a few places then - although we'd not planned to really start looking for a few more months. My wife is going to visit her mother (who lives about 90 miles from Scranton) on the 27th and she'll probably go down to look at this house if it's still on the market (it's only been on the market a month).
