I had it 3 years ago on Halloween day. At the time, we were building our house so we were living with my in-laws. They were having a Halloween party and I was able to socialize with guests for a while. I slept most of the next day, but after that, I was fine. It was great to get relief from that pain. It would freak me out when I'd start breaking into cold sweats for no apparent reason.
As for afterwards, you might need to change your diet a bit. Sometimes I can eat the same thing on two separate occasions, one time I'll be all right, the next time it'll make me run for the 'library'.
