Good idea. I sat in on a local AS400 user group meeting (ugh) at a
local pizza parlor.

We had to pay for lunch, but the diner opened up the party room and the
group had a projector and screen for the demonstration. It was pretty
nice.

I think as long as you pay for your meals, they won't care what you do
in there, within reason. ;)

How many are you?

Many restaurants will dedicate space to this kind of thing if you make
it a "dinner meeting". It would mean that people would have to pay (for
their
food) but heck, people's gotta eat!

One group I was affiliated with met at a great Japanese/Polynesian
Buffet place. The buffet was $8 and there was a mandatory tip for large
parties so each member (there were between 12-18 of us) had to pay about
$10.

If there are drinkers in your group a lot of bars will open their
function rooms as well.
