Currently Louisiana get only 27% of the federal revenues for offshore oil production (0 to 3 miles). And as far as I can tell nothing from onshore and deep water (3+ miles) drilling on federal lands. All other states that allow drilling on federal lands get as much as 50% of the revenues for all drilling. Louisiana needs the same deal.
Please write your congressional representatives and tell them to support a bill to give Louisiana a fair share of the Federal revenues for oil and gas production in the state. There is going to be a constitutional amendment to the state constitution requiring that this revenue be used exclusivley for coastal restoration and hurricane protection. Louisiana and the rest of the country needs that. Imagine what will happen to the price of gasoline when all of the current drilling wells in Lousiana, representing 30% of the nation's production, have to be rebuilt because the land beneath them has turned into the Gulf of Mexico? Or the pipleline and refineries are gone because a hurricane has destroyed them? Louisiana needs you help. Please act now.
