0 - I'm not inventing a new product, just creating a CF implementation of an ASP.NET application that is slow and cludgy written by a vendor. We also are very disappointed with the customer service we have been getting from them the past 3 years. I'm not proposing a reverse engineering project, just a similar project with goals defined by my employer. 1 - I'm hourly. No one has bothered to convert me to a non-classified employee since I came on as a graphic artist. 2 - I have nothing in writing about the proposal yet. I was told after COB last night that it might be considered for next year. It will not happen this year. 3 - I have been encouraged to take a second IS job as the parent company has an odd salary plan for web people. 4 - Louisiana has a precedent where non-compete agreements are worthless. It seems that even if I sign one, the state judges will through it our because of some odd language in the state "right to work" law. 5 - An LLC sounds interesting. The SBA just called with a disaster recovery loan and wanted to know if I wanted to start my own business. I mught have to take them up on it. 6 - The GM here is the one who has turned down the program, but the IS Manager is interested. An LLP between my employer and myself might be a solution.
