Well, Pres Clinton once famously summed up his foreign policy this
way: If it promotes a global economy, I'm for it.  If it opposes it,
I'm against it.  I agree with Clinton.  Isolationist protectionism is
the fastest way to poverty.

I used to have this argument with a staunch unionist who said we were
all doomed by "rice eaters 24/7".  What he meant was that there were
foreign workers willing to work 24/7 and eat only rice and that would
destroy America.  I'd ask him where he bought his latest gadget and
he'd say Wal-mart.  I'd ask where it was made.  China.  The point is,
even the most critical opponent is really a proponent of
globalization.
