I think Heinlein wrote some great women. Most of them were based in part on his wife Ginny, who was a pretty impressive woman. The women in SISL were a bit cardboard, but some of his later creations, Hilda, Dora, Minerva, Tamara, Lor & Laz, and of course, my favorite, Mama Maureen.
