How good are your eyes?

Although it is getting better, I still find it much preferable to run Windows
with its default char size. Just too many applications that don't size their
pop-ups properly and display only half the text when the size is not default.
So I would highly recommend to tailor the pixel and physical size of the screen
to your eyes instead of tinkering with windows. And there is a huge difference
between 15" screen with 1024*768 or a 15" screen with 1400*1050.
After that, get at least 1 GB of RAM. CF is a resource hog, IIS is a resource
hog and most IDE's are. And if you want to run virtual machines, you might just
jump to 1.5 GB immediately.
The rest is pretty much standard.
