I agree that you need to punish immediately. Not necessarily whap - our current 
dog was probably mistreated before we had her and this would be the wrong way 
to go with her -- but make your displeasure known. Especially over the barking 
in the yard thing, I am a fairly peaceful person but when we lived behind a dog 
that used to bark and bark and bark and bark I was quite seriously considering 
buying a gun. 

On the nine days without cigarettes -- that is really great. You have done it. 
Now just don't blow it. You will still get the cravings but they will become 
more infrequent and less strong as time goes by. For now I would continue to 
avoid situations where you used to smoke. (In my case this would have been oh, 
drinking a beer, expresso coffee, waiting rooms.... but your triggers may 
differ.)
