heheh, I don't know where'd you get XP MCE (newegg?), but that's exactly
what I did last weekend. In the end my network will be like:
dsl --> linksysrouter1
---> subnet 1 in office, plugged directly into linksysrouter1
---> gaming pc
---> old gaming pc rebuild last weekend into XP media center / file server
(p4 1.5, 512 ram)
---> subnet 2 in living room, linksysrouter2 acting in client mode with
linksysrouter1
---> xbox 360
---> hd-tivo
---> original xbox, running XBMC (xbox media center)
---> will use my original linksys wireless bridge to put this in
my bedroom as a streaming audio/movie device
I miss XBMC the most, but I don't want 2 xboxes in my living room, that
just feels too extravagent :P
But with all my music in OGG and FLAC, I've had to adjust a lot from XBMC.
I now keep a subset of music transcoded to mp3 so I can play them off the
360. I will have to do the same with movies as well, transcoding my divx
stuff into WMV. I've been told that WMV-HD streams nicely onto the 360,
so that might be worth checking out as well.
It's a PITA to do all the transcoding, all worth it though when I can
replace the in game music in madden or PGR with streaming music from my new
media pc :)
