I have come to understand that schools are messed up and will remain messed up.
Meanwhile, I have children to raise. I don't think probem A should be allowed
to interfere with problem B. You may think it's running away but I guarantee
you that even if they eventually decide Mike's daughter can have a nose ring
they will do something almost though not exactly the same to another kid next
week. In my opinion the whole paradigm is flawed. The argument that we should
stick around so schools won't become even more dysfunctional requires that we
subject our children to the system. What the teacher did was wrong and if I
were Mike I would not want my daughter learning otherwise. Especially not my
daughter.
