Are you trying to please the child or the parents? if you are trying to please the parents, the other suggestions are good. For a one-year old girl I'd personally go with an appropriately-sized doll or stuffed toy. If you go this route, make sure it is rated for a child that young, as eyes that come unglued or ears that can be chewed off can be choking hazards.
