mmmmmmm... crappy deep-fried seafood...

:-P

so here's a lunchtime quandry: are there any guilty-pleasure fast-food
restaurants or chains that you just looooove but don't really want
anyone else to know?

Or that you used to love but had to give up (location, place closed)
given the chance you'd go back and order up?

What's the place (can be local or a chain)
What's yer poison?
What made you stop going?

I have a couple but to start:

Nu-Way Drive In, Leavenworth, Kansas (still open as far as I know),
Large Pork Tenderloin Sandwich (the "small" is a half sandwich (made
and cut in half God-knows-when)), crinkle-cut fries. Sandwich comes
with Yellow mustard, if you want mayo, they'll put some in a cup (I've
had it served in a little paper cup, a wwater glass and a coffee mug,
depending upon what is available). Ketchup bottles are on the table...

They also serve the Nu-Way "loose-meat" sandwich which is basically
ground beef that is cooked in a frying pan and kept warm in a steam
tray, then scooped with a slotted spoon onto a bun. Not nearly as
tasty as it sounds :-P

The place is about as low-brow as you can get. dingy and not very well
lit, tiny booths that haven't been re-upholstered in about 40 years,
but damn a pork tenderloin sandwich just hits the spot!

Stopped going because you can hear your arteries hardening just
walking into the joint...and I now live on the Left Coast...but when I
am back in Kansas, Nu-Way is always on the list...

Anyone else?

will
