I also do it to separate code from content.

The html coders tend to name folder like "SpecialFeatures", so I can
keep my stuff separate with "_display" and "_images", and files like
"bills.cfm", so _testLogin.cfm also is easily distinguished.

And when I build a cms for them to manage their site, it is easy to
not list the stuff I don't want them in anyway.

Of course, I thought I made that up, so don't listen to me.
