The electricity is an (but apparently very solid) geothermal system. They've also got a large stash of batteries collected from the plain and other sources (remember at this point they've only been on the island for perhaps two months). The hatch is sorta sizable - but has several problems for potential sleepers: +) It's only got a couple of decent rooms - not nearly enough room for all 40+ people. +) It's got concrete floors. There's one set of bunkbeds and a short couch... but that's about it. +) That damn alarm goes off - loudly - every 108 minutes.
