ah, perhaps a cultural point -- emissions testing is done at little kiosks here, not a garage. A tuneup was mentioned but I see no reason to go replacing spark plugs and wires and distributor cap etc on a car that runs beautifully unless I know that this is in fact the reason for the reading...
