I've a got a friend in the same position - she's done a lot of multi-media
work approaching this.  Here's one of her older shows:

This one in particular - http://www.miettes.net/fawc/story.html - could have
made use of this kind of thing.  For the piece she just projected the images
onto the pages but she wanted it to be more interactive.

Actually this technology specifically wouldn't have been as nice - a more
visual recognition (a la the "EyeToy") probably would have been better over
all...
