Along those lines, we bought wedding bands that are a combination of gold and platinum. She wanted gold. I hated gold. Everybody has gold. To me, gold looks cheap. (Think: bling)
Our rings are based off of a gold band, but the band has been compressed by an outer ring of of platinum. I would have preferred only platinum, but this was a compromise since she had a lot of gold jewelry and she wanted something that would still match it. The cool thing is the platinum is much heavier than gold and, therefore, it feel more-expensive. Plus it can give someone a good thump upside their head.
