Only if turns out to be useful.

Personally I collect much more than I end up using/reading (the only real
case for broadband making piracy more rampant... but less effective).

But for tech books I prefer paper to begin with (to have the book open on
the desk for reference) and no e-book format is very good at that. At the
same time however tech books tend to be insanely bloated in both size and
price - I've neither the physical room for all that paper in my apartment
nor the metaphorical room in my wallet to pay $80 (sometimes annually) for
an up-to-date paper copy.

So when it comes down to it there are some books I tend to always buy
("JavaScript: The Definitive Guide" from O'Reilly comes to mind) and use
nearly constantly. Others (for example Ben Forta's CF WACK - as good as it
is) tends to cover material that I'll never review again so I just don't buy
them.

Then again I don't pirate them either - they're just not that useful to me
at all.

To generalize even more I've essentially given up on non-reference tech
books.
