Just to continue the standard "but what about them/us", there is a fight going on in the EU over a French energy company. It seems that the French government pushed through some fast merger work to (as some see it) prevent an Italian company from buying up a French one or even bidding on it. This has brought up a fight over protectionism and foreign ownership. France has been restricting foreign ownership of French companies while expanding their own foreign ownerships.
