My reading on this resolution is that it is in full conflict with Roman Catholic socail teachings. I have spent the past month reading a lot of these works and am convinced that is wrong, based upon the teachings of my faith tradition. I hope other Bishops around the country take up Cardinal Mahony's call.

At the same time, we recognize that the right to enter the United States does not include the right to economic entitlements such as welfare. The freedom to immigrate is a freedom of opportunity, not a guarantee of a handout." One more reason for me to stay Libertarian.
