If I understand you, I agree.  The whole beauty of the system should
be that the average person doesn't need to know squat - the system has
in place the protections needed to fend off gov't tyranny.

The reason all of these issues are coming up is because we have a new
threat that our current admin has called a "war" and is using to push
the limits of our system's protections of individuals.  While that may
done with good intentions, it's the road to hell IMO.

As for the "war", terrorism has always been, and will always be,
criminal, not martial.  The 5th armored battalion can't defeat
terrorism.  Only good human intelligence and hand-to-hand combat will.
 That's what police do, not what soldiers do.  Well 99% of them
anyway.

If you look at the Delta forces: these are guys with full beards, in
their 30s or older, can speak fluent Arabic or local dialects, and are
comfortable in turbans and on camels.  They wander around until they
find a ring leader, and then they capture them.  That's not a military
action, it's a police action.

Once we get someone in office that understands that, all of these
ridiculous assaults on our freedoms will end.
