I think this is a good thing for Linux in general. Take Netscape and Winamp for example, both having been bought by AOL. Netscape really took a nose dive at first, but Netscape is really pushing the standards with Mozilla now, which is good for us. Without that potential competition, MS might not have cared as much about the W3C standards. In WinAMP's case, there really isn't a better mp3 player on the market right now, and WinAMP 3 is being very actively developed. Both are totally free products too. I think this all points towards a long term goal to compete with Microsoft. If they continue the way they have been, they just might succeed too. Personally I am beginning to like AOL/TW more and more. I have a RoadRunner account which is awesome, it gives me 2.5 Megabit downloads all day long for $45/month. Without WinAmp I dont know what I'd do..., and Mozilla is fast becoming my default browser.
I don't know where this will all end up, but AOL/TW is looking pretty decent to me, for now. jon ps I wonder if VA Software is next ;-) That's a Slashdot thread I wouldn't want to miss! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Lyons" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, January 21, 2002 9:45 AM Subject: RE: AOL SUCKS A** > How about this one: > http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A5064-2002Jan18.html > > AOL is negotiating a buyout of Redhat Linux. > > larry ______________________________________________________________________ This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
