Kirby was a favorite player of mine back when I was growing up. Actually, he was probably a favorite of ANY little boy growing up around that time who loved baseball. Watching this chubby little guy with a constant smile on his face playing the game so enthusiastically (and so brilliantly).....you had no choice but to root for him.
