Really, if I wanted to be pithy about it, I'd say the fact that we're banning hands-free phones should be evidence enough that we then absolutely must also ban stereos in cars. Because you have to look down to hit the stereo button to change stations or adjust the volume, etc. much less the more complicated systems that'll let you adjust the balance, bass and treble. And while I'm aware of the risk, I still eat in my car. Not often (and I'm careful about my choice of food and don't do it in frenetic driving environments), but I do. For that matter the mere fact that we have drive-through windows at all our fast food joints everywhere sort of encourages eating while driving. Yes, you can say that the point of the drive through window is to make a trip to get food faster, but that doesn't change the fact that people are encouraged to eat while driving because of their proliferation. Hence the reasons why all the "ban cell phones" talk is garbage -- it doesn't even really matter that I personally am extremely skeptical about the studies, because we know for a fact that people routinely do other things while driving which must be at least equally as distracting as talking on a hands-free phone (hell, some women apply makeup while driving to work every morning). It just blows my mind that people either don't see or don't want to see that. s. isaac dealey 434.293.6201 new epoch : isn't it time for a change? add features without fixtures with the onTap open source framework http://www.fusiontap.com http://coldfusion.sys-con.com/author/4806Dealey.htm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:199876 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
