The liberal gene is most active during the late teens and early 20's. In most people, the gene goes dormant several years after leaving college. At this time, the conservative gene begins to become active. Research has shown that if left alone, the affects of the liberal gene are usually countered successfully by real-life experiences. As the person realizes how shitty the real world is, the idealistic affects of the liberal gene usually wear off.
