Actually, it is very specific. This is probably a defense contracting subdivision. If so, it is named exactly like all of its competitors. Can you guess what it does? What does "Lucerne" or "Vertegris" or even "Cisco" do? That is why it is named what it is. On a government contract bid, obviousness is a virtue.
I would guess that it used to be a separate company bought by GD and was renamed. I would bet that there was already a division of GD called Network Systems.
