laying into to someone isn't going to help, at least not often. Far better to be reasonable, and calmly explain what you would like them to do for you. That way you can stop thinking of such times as confrontational and more like problem solving exercises, which I'm sure you are very good at Judith.

You didn't call her on a cell phone did you? Mark -----Original Message----- From: Judith Dinowitz [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2002 3:39 PM To: CF-Community Subject: Conflicted Why? I'll tell you ... I had a very nice set of blanket covers and crib sheets made up for my kids a few weeks ago. Everything fit perfectly -- or so I thought. Then I had the same woman who did the set make up some extra sheets for my kids beds. It was only then that I discovered the mistake she made. I had given her dimensions for my baby's blanket: 49 inches by 62 inches. Only she heard 39 inches by 62 inches (I gave her the dimensions over the phone.) Now the blanket covers she made are about 10 inches too short for my baby's blanket. I spoke to her about this error on the phone. (I had already paid her.) She was very apologetic, and said that I should bring them in and she'd see what she could do. This was two weeks ago. I came in to her store with the blanket covers (finally having a chance to get in to Boro Park) and she asks me if I have other material, she'll do the blanket covers over. I say, No, didn't you have any material left over. So she tells me that she doesn't think she did, she has no idea where it is, and why did I wait so long to come in? I said I had phoned her about this, so why didn't she keep the material she had left over. She claims she had no material left over. These are the options she gave me: Sew my baby's blanket, cutting off those 10 inches. She'll do that for me if I wish. Or, if I bring her more material, she'll do two more blanket covers to the right dimensions. Only I have no more blue material, only red, and now the baby's blanket is not going to match my other kids' covers. Otherwise, she says she can't do anything. I am torn between demanding she give me my money back, or asking her to get me new sheets (and I don't want to pay for them) and having her do two new blanket covers free of charge. I should have exploded in the store -- How can she make such a mistake and then say there's nothing she can do about it? And demand that I bring her additional material? Michael is right -- I am truly a wuss. I am so totally non-confrontational, I did not say what I felt in the store. Even though I was very angry.
