Hello everyone,

Hope everyone survived their green beer over the weekend.

I got a 60Gb Video Ipod (black) over the weekend. I actually got it on
ebay (new in sealed box) for 365 (usd), w/ free shipping and no tax. So
I saved about 70 bucks rather than buying it at the store (best buy,
circuit city, apple, etc...). I just had to wait the 10 days or so for
it to come via UPS.

I also investigated how to rip DVD's into the MP4 format that the Video
Ipod wants, thanks to some helpful tips from folks on this list.

I decided to purchase: Cucusoft - DVD to iPod Converter
It was only 40 bucks and it's incredibly easy to use, and pretty fast
at the ripping process.

I do have a question for Video Ipod owners on the list: I would like to
manually update my videos on the Ipod.
I.e. I'd like to rip a DVD into MP4 format. Then just copy that file
to the Ipod (via ITunes of course).
I don't want to do the auto-sync thing with Videos because I'd like to
remove them from my harddrive after the transfer to the Ipod to conserve
HD space on my laptop.
Problem tho': Everything I've read says I should be able to either
drag & drop from the Video library in Itunes or Windows Explorer on the
Source Video Ipod in the left hand panel of Itunes.
It won't let me, the drag target indicates the no-smoking symbol. I
have the Ipod's option set to Manual for Videos.
I did the auto-sync videos thing, just to get the initial videos on
there so I could see them.
But, I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing to allow me to do manual
copying of videos. My songs are set to auto-sync which is how I want
them.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brian
