>You obviously don't hang around enough with lawyers or lawmakers. Nor do I plan to in any foreseeable future!
>Makes perfect sense to me. I'm glad, still doesn't to me even after your comments. >"minor child" is self explanatory. Ok, this one I can follow. >"to be in need of supervision" is pretty easy to visualize. Kids in their >living room, not much. kids in their backyard, more. kids in a car alone >for a half hour near a four lane highway, probably in need of supervision. >kids near a pool alone, a lot. Ok, took a couple of tries but I think I am getting this. >the "encourage" is a little more difficult, until you remember this was >written by lawmakers to stand up against lawyers. >If the had said "force a minor", lawyers would argue about what "force" >means. By using a wishy-washy word like "encourage", it is hard for a >lawyer to say "it doesn't apply" Still lost! I just do not see the concept of "encouraging" a child to need supervision. Who is receiving the encouragement? Why did they not need the supervision before the encouragement? Can one give encouragement, but not enough and still be in trouble with this statute? I'm glad I'm not a lawyer; I have enough trouble using the correct syntax to get these computer thingies to do what I want. -------------- Ian Skinner Web Programmer BloodSource www.BloodSource.org Sacramento, CA --------- | 1 | | --------- Binary Soduko | | | --------- "C code.
