On the other hand, I think most news outlets are missing the boat with
"good" news.

People WANT the good stories. The news outlets SHOULD (as a
money-intent business) cater to that desire, and produce stories that
are "good". Look at the better news websites. They do a good job of
laying out a selection of stories, and letting the public decide what
to pursue.

Also, in the local news market where the local news focuses on SOME
good local news every night, they are showing good numbers from the
type of "family" news watchers that have the news on at dinner time.

I actively search out good news stories, because I LIKE them.

I want to know that the bakery has good banana bread. Because, as my
own weak response to the bad stuff, I will go to the bakery and buy
their bread, once they get their operation back open.
