variable? I remember seeing that power supply can cause wierd and predictable errors. But this is predictable as can be. Machine never completely boots. He says there are no beeps but i have not seen the machine to be sure about that. If it were a virus how would you get rid of it? It won't boot to a floppy either, which is why I am thinking bios...
