All of the public libraries locally are accepting donation. They do prefer money, but will take any support they can get.
New Orleans was particularly hard hit with almost every library taking significant damage. I know of at least 3 that need to be torn down and rebuilt. Thankfully much of the reference and research collections survived because they were in the center of the main library on the upper floor. But most of the public stacks were destroyed. My former parish, Jefferson, lost about 100,000 books when 2 libraries were destroyed and the others took roof damage. None of the reference sections were severely damaged, but they lost some microfilms. >They are accepting books, Dana, but they'd much prefer monetary donations: > >http://nutrias.org/~nopl/foundation/donationsfaq.htm > >> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:201993 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
