You need to read some of Thomas Jefferson's writings on separation of church and state.
Basically any mention of a particular religion by government can be interpreted as support of that religion. For instance school prayers in the morning over the school's PA. I do not want my kids exposed to something I strongly disagree with. Similarly I do not think that others want to be exposed to my religious views in a government supported context. As for the ACLU doing better things, they cannot pick and choose. They do not go for this type of case, then they also cannot go for those more egregious ones. The idea is that the organization supports all civil rights regardless of who is bring the case foreword. larry -- Larry C.
