I always use Word for this sort of task. It loads part of the file then lets
you work while it background loads the rest of the file, and it does that
fairly quickly. And the Find and Replace function in Word, while not the
most sophisticated, is very fast.

Otherwise, if you just want to do file manipulations, nothing beats command
line Unix tools for flexibility and performance, IMHO. They just suck from a
usability perspective.
