Daylight savings time in general is one of the dumber ideas mankind has ever conceived... Politicians push them around for BS reasons like "we like to take a nap in the afternoon"... so just because some schmuck aspires to be narcoleptic the rest of the planet has to deal with the garbage of maintaining a monolithic database of DST changes (not just when DST begins and ends, because it also has to know when they decided to change the offset from 1 hr to 1.5 hrs in a specific country even though the remaining countries in their timezone didn't) and programming all our software around their stupid selfish garbage. Because god knows time and date calculations weren't nearly complicated enough before.
