Students have been suspended for praying school. Students have been given
failing grades for writing papers about Jesus or Bible characters.

There are certainly school districts and teachers that take "separation" to
an extreme.

There is nothing that says you cannot pray in school. Its the implied
approval of prayer that's at the core of the problem. That is why student
led prayer is OK, but prayer over the school PA or by teachers etc is not.
