>But... What if it's (say) a Catholic school? Theoretically, shouldn't >all pupils be Catholic, so therefore they SHOULD be taught Prayer... Or >am I wrong in this?
This is perfectly fine, students go to these schools knowing what to expect, parents put them in these schools for that reason, no problems what so ever. I have friends that went to catholic schools, they had a religion class. >Personally I'm not religious, but if you go to a religious school, then >you should have to live with their edicts - shouldn't you? Yes. >I'm personally against a normal school forcing religious education on >pupils, especially a multi-ethnic school - I was brought up as a >Baptist, so I know some biblical stuff, but I HATED that I was forced to >read Church of England stuff at school - RE was a required subject until >age 13, and this from a normal school... Can you imagine a Muslim child >being forced into this - isn't it a breach of civil liberties? This is bad, and I disagree with it, It is one thing to learn what the Church of England is, and what role it played in history, but it another to teach the religions its self. ______________________________________________________________________ This list and all House of Fusion resources hosted by CFHosting.com.
